Historical Research
One of the challenges of this project was to find out as much as possible about the route taken by George at the time. The post routes were fairly well developed by the end of the 18th Century, although not in any way comparable to today's road network, and in inclement weather alternative routes would be used. George travelled in September in relatively dry conditions, and we have a report on this journey and much else besides that was published in Hamburg a few years after the coronation. This report and reference we have translated into English will be available shortly as a pdf document.
